Vicki began her training as a doula after taking a local workshop offered by DONA international. https://www.dona.org/
During the workshop she was able to not only gain information and knowledge but also network with other doulas in training. https://www.brandondoulas.ca/
Herself and a co-doula had a dream to pursue and started
Earth Mother Doulas https://www.facebook.com/earthmotherdoulas/
While Vicki continued gaining experience and working towards her DONA certification the timeframes and life plans for the two took different directions. It became apparent that Vicki would need to take a different approach. And so came Vicki Sturgeon- Doula. Thus here I am. In order to ensure continuous coverage and no burnout arrangements have been made with a partner of sorts and backup agreement with precious nest the lovely Joleene, Kelky Hofer, and Alyssa Calvert. Vicki continues to work avidly with other community doulas in order to promote the Birthing in Westman series https://www.brandondoulas.ca/birthing-in-westman-series
Because of the high degree of passion involved in building community and supporting mothers many of the community doulas work together and encourage you to shop around and find the right fit for you. Just like each birthing person is individual so is each doula.

Vicki was amazing! I’m so glad we decided to have a doula. She helped my husband and I feel secure during my pregnancy and during labour. She was personable and approachable. She made sure to understand what I wanted and didn’t want for my birth. When things got tough during my labour she was there to help me navigate through the storm. She never left my side and advocated for me when I couldn’t for myself.
Everyone should have a doula! I highly recommend Vicki and hope to have her at my next birth! --client N
What can I not say she was amazing. I am glad she was by our side the whole way. She kept us calm and focused and at the end of our birth experience we gained a friend for life... Thank you for everything you have done for us to bring our Bodhi into this world. -- partner T

I am so happy and grateful that my wife and I were able to have Vicki as our doula during birth. This was our first pregnancy and we were not really sure what to expect during the birth. Vicki was amazing at helping us realize what we wanted and didn’t want and patient with us throughout the entire process.
When the night of my labour came Vicki was there helping us through it, she made me feel safe and supported the entire time. She was a great source of strength for both of us by being there and supporting the two of us we were able to focus on each other to get through the hard parts. Our little guy got rushed off to the NICU right after birth and without her there I am not sure I would have been able to go through all of that on my own. It was a blessing we had her there by our side at one of the toughest moments of our lives.
She has been extremely kind and patient with me postpartum while I learn to navigate motherhood. Going into this experience I wasn’t sure what a doula did but I now understand that every person should have one to help them through their journey. I really feel like I have gained a friend and hope to have her at our next birth!-- client M

I am so grateful for having Vicki as our doula! She was so supportive and knowledgeable throughout pregnancy, delivery, and post partum. I was anxious as a first time mom, and she was so patient in listening and addressing my concerns.
On delivery day, her support and energy kept myself and my partner calm. She thought of so many details I wouldn’t have thought of myself and was so comforting. I will always remember how having Vicki at my delivery made me feel that my parterand I had an advocate and additional support. I particularly appreciated that she was able to care for my partner during a long labour, which allowed him to also care for me.
Following delivery, Vicki was so supportive in checking in almost daily. The way my delivery ended was traumatic for me, and I truly believe that having Vicki as a doula helped my healing. I will forever be grateful that all that Vicki did throughout bringing my son earth side!-- client J
